*World Environment Day Celebration 2025@ SNIMS*
In observance of World Environment Day 2025, Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS) organized an awareness program and a sapling plantation drive on 5th June 2025, aiming to foster environmental consciousness among medical students.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Indira Kumari K.R., Principal of SNIMS. The event was formally inaugurated by Sri. K. D. Venugopal, Secretary of the Gurudeva Charitable Trust, who emphasized the importance of sustainable living and active participation in environmental conservation efforts.
An insightful awareness session on environmental management and conservation of natural resources was delivered by Dr. Ann Mary Thomas, Professor, Department of Community Medicine. Her address highlighted practical approaches to preserving ecological balance and the role of healthcare professionals in promoting environmental health.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Thomas Jerry, Vice Principal, acknowledged the efforts of all participants and contributors.
The event saw the active participation of members including Dr. Manjusha K, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Ms. Bindu P.S., College Administrator, and an enthusiastic group of students. As part of the celebration, fruit trees and other saplings were planted on campus to promote greenery and biodiversity.
Marking a step towards long-term environmental engagement, a Green Club was also formed during the event. The club aims to spearhead eco-friendly initiatives within the institution and encourage sustainable practices among students and staff.
The event successfully instilled a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation, aligning with the global theme of World Environment Day.
