A formal walk-through and handover ceremony of the Research Cell, located at the Central Research Laboratory, was conducted on 10 February 2026 at 12.30 PM, marking the official commencement of its operations.The event was graced by the dignitaries of GCT, namely the Secretary, Mr. K. D. Venugopal, the Treasurer, Mr. Sajeevbabu Kombara, and the Manager of the Institution, Dr. Sedhu P. A.
During the ceremony, the Executive Director, Lt Gen (Dr) Ajith Nilakantan, PVSM (Retd), formally handed over the keys of the Research Cell to the Secretary of the Research Cell, Dr. Abhima M. B., HOD & Professor, Department of Pharmacology, symbolizing the official transfer of responsibility and readiness of the facility for functioning.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Indira Kumari K. R., Principal, Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS); Dr. Simple Rajagopal, Principal, Sree Narayana College of Nursing (SNCON); Dr. Anoop Vincent, Additional Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Manjusha K., Deputy Medical Superintendent, reflecting strong institutional support for research and academic advancement.
Members of the Research Cell team were present along with representatives from key departments. The initiative was coordinated by the Deputy Manager – Planning and Development, with active support from the Chief Operating Officer, Manager – IT, Deputy Manager- Operations, Deputy Manager – Outreach and Development, Head – Safety and Facility Management, and Assistant Manager – Purchases. Their participation highlighted the coordinated interdepartmental efforts involved in establishing the Research Cell and ensuring its operational readiness.
The Research Cell office is now fully functional and operates daily from 12.30 PM to 1.30 PM, manned by an Office Secretary, with all necessary infrastructure, furnishings, and systems in place to support routine administrative and academic activities.
The walk-through and handover ceremony marked an important milestone in strengthening the institution’s research ecosystem and reaffirmed GCT’s commitment to fostering research excellence and academic growth.
