SNIMS observes World TB Day with Message of Hope and Action
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS), observed World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on 24 March 2026 to raise awareness on TB prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment. The programme was organised in line with this year’s global theme, highlighting the urgent need to eliminate TB as a major public health concern.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Hemalatha V. S., Professor & Head, who emphasised the continued public health impact of TB. The event was graced by Lt Gen (Dr) Ajith Nilakantan, Executive Director & Medical Superintendent; Dr. Indira Kumari K. R., Principal and Dr. Alexander John, HoD, Community Medicine, who offered their felicitations.
An academic session on the clinical aspects, diagnosis, and management of tuberculosis was conducted by Dr. Deepa Maria Jose (Senior Resident) and Dr. Aparna K. Murali (Final Year PG Resident).
Doctors, nursing staff, patients, and bystanders actively participated in the programme, which also addressed the social stigma associated with TB and highlighted the importance of counselling and community awareness.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the institution’s commitment towards strengthening TB awareness and control efforts.
