    The SNIMS Research Conclave 2025, organized by the Research Cell of the Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS), marked a significant milestone with the announcement of a new pillar “Sree Narayana Guru Centre for Human Development and Scientific Research” under the Gurudeva Charitable Trust (GCT) and the felicitation of Prof. Dr. Feroze Kaliyadan for his outstanding contributions to medical research and academic scholarship. The conclave aimed to strengthen the research culture at SNIMS and chart a clear roadmap for future research initiatives aligned with the philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru.

     

    The conclave was chaired by Dr. Shaji K. S., Dean of Research, Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). The welcome address was delivered by Sri K. D. Venugopal, Secretary, Gurudeva Charitable Trust. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Sedhu, Manager of Institutions, Gurudeva Charitable Trust; Sri Radhakrishnan, Joint Secretary; Prof. Dr. Indira Kumari K. R., Principal, SNIMS; Heads of Departments; faculty members; postgraduate students; interns; and undergraduate students.

     

    In his presidential address, Dr. Shaji K. S. emphasized the need to nurture a strong research culture in academic institutions, highlighting that research is vital for the academic growth of both faculty and students, as well as for the advancement of the healthcare sector.

     

    The Executive Director of Gurudeva Charitable Trust, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Ajith Nilakantan, PVSM (Retd.), delivered a lecture on “Research @ SNIMS – Concept & Stewardship.” He stated that the research activities at SNIMS are firmly rooted in the philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru, and as a continuation of this vision, a new research centre titled “Sree Narayana Guru Centre for Human Development and Scientific Research” has been established. He further announced that Prof. Dr. Feroze Kaliyadan, Chairperson of the SNIMS Research Cell and Head of the Department of Dermatology, has been entrusted with the leadership of the newly established centre, in recognition of his academic leadership and exemplary research credentials.

    Delivering the talk, Prof. Dr. Feroze Kaliyadan spoke on contemporary challenges in medical research and shared insights into achieving publications of international standards. As a highlight of the conclave, he was formally honoured for his sustained and impactful contributions to research, mentorship, and academic scholarship.

     

    The activities and future roadmap of the current SNIMS Research Cell were also presented by Prof. Dr. K. B. Abhima, Head of the Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Gokul, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology, delivered a talk on “Research in Action – AI as a Clinical Tool.”

     

    The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Uma Unni, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry.

     

    The organizers expressed their special appreciation to all those involved for their exemplary coordination and support, which were instrumental in ensuring the smooth conduct and grand success of the conclave.
