The “Youth Without Intoxication” awareness program, jointly organized by the Department of Psychiatry, Sree Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SNIMS), and the Munambam Sub Division Student Police Cadet Unit, was held on October 11, 2025, at the SNIMS auditorium. Focused on addressing the increasing challenges of substance abuse and gadget addiction among youth, the event featured health screenings and expert sessions promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Dr. Anoop Vincent, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, welcomed and greeted the guests, setting the tone for the day. Awareness sessions included Dr. Aleena Johnson (Assistant Professor, Psychiatry) on adolescent addictions and Clinical Psychologist Ms. Shalini on gadget dependency and its consequences. The event was led by DYSP Jayakrishnan, with Perumbavoor ASP Hardik Meena IPS as the chief guest. Additional sessions were conducted by Prof. Dr. Ashok Antony on behavioral change and Dr. Manjusha (Deputy Medical Superintendent) on lifestyle modification. Dr. Amrita, Dr. Gopika, Dr. Seena, and Mr. Deepu Raj (Deputy Manager – Outreach and Development) also attended the program. The event emphasized the powerful message: “Create opportunities for life, eliminate intoxication, and envision a better future.”
